Sharing our ideas and experiences
Beyond Essex
FaNs was 'Made in Essex' but of course there are now 'friends and neighbours' of care home residents outside Essex too! We actively share our experiences and ideas with other organisations committed to developing similar sorts of community engagement opportunities between older people who are care home residents and their local communities. We do this in partnership with the national My Home Life organisation who now co-ordinate the Care Home Fans network. They also organise 'in person' and skype networking opportunities for our 'Team Fans' to link with enthusiastic like-minded people from other organisations in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland and share Essex FaNs initiatives at national conferences.
I just wanted to contact you to say how valuable it was to have Tony with me presenting on community engagement yesterday at Dementia Congress. We had a fab day and had continuous interest into the work of Essex FaNs and The Wishing Washing Line. Tony was fantastic with the audience at our presentation and sold everyone in the room on the power of what local communities can do for care homes and of course the wonderful, Wishing Washing Line. Thanks for lending him out to us for the day. You and your team are such an asset to the Care Home FaNs movement, we always appreciate your support.
