The Mrs Smith and Mount Trust
The Charity has been awarded a grant of £5000 over two years from The Mrs Smith and Mount Trust to enable us to develop our FaNs community engagement strategy promoting health and well being in loacl communities around care homes. (2021 - 2023)
Independent Age
The Charity has been awarded a grant of £13,500 from Independent Age Grants Fund. This will support MHLECA to re-establish their FaNs community connections and intergenerational engagement opportunities for older people living in Essex Care Homes who have been so isolated during the Covid pandemic (2021)
Essex Community Foundation
The Charity has received a grant of £18,143 via the Essex Community Foundation from 2 Funding sources - the Essex County Council Covid Response Fund and the PROVIDE Foundation. This Grant was awared to help support our FaNs (friends and neighbours) project with care homes across Colchester/Tendring/Maldon/Braintree (2021)
Postcode Neighbourhood Trust
MHLECA has been awarded a grant from the Postcode Neighbourhood Trust, a grant-giving charity funded entirely by players of the People's Postcode Lottery. This grant will fund our Projects Coordinator role for 12 months to March 2022 (2021-22)
The Tudwick Foundation
MHLECA has been awarded a Grant as a contribution towards our core charity costs from The Tudwick Foundation (2020-21). This is particularly welcome as we have been unable to run our planned Fundraising events in 2020, due to Covid-19.
Tesco - Bags of Help
MHLECA has been awarded 2 small Bags of Help grants specifically towards revisiting and relaunching our Maldon and Clacton based Wishing Washing Line in a way which is Covid safe for our Care Home residents and our FaNs Network volunteers (2020)
Essex Community Foundation
MHLECA was awarded a Grant from the NET Coronavirus Appeal Programme managed by the Essex Community Foundation. This recognises the additional work of our Staff to provide an adapted response service to support Essex Care Home residents and staff during the Covid-19 crisis, work which is outside that funded by other existing grants (2020)
Active Essex - Micro Grant
MHLECA was awarded an Active Essex Micro Grant to support transport costs of 'Trips Out' for Care Home residents helping keep them both active and involved in their local communities (2020-2021)
Essex County Council - Community Initiatives Fund
MHLECA has received a contribution to its Engagement staffing resource for use in the Mid-Essex Area to enable the development and promote sustainability of our FaNs Wishing Washing Line concept (2020-2021)
FSJ Charities
MHLECA has received a grant from the Essex based Fowler Smith and Jones Trusts as a welcome contribution for our Charity Core costs in 2020. This will also enable the Charity Trustees to undertake appropriate training.
Allen Lane Foundation
MHLECA have benefited from a grant towards our running costs from the Allen Lane Foundation. This money is helping us continue to offer our FaNs initiatives to improve the quality of life for older people; reduce isolation and loneliness; strengthen communicty cohesion and increase intergenerational relationships between children and older people (2019-2020)
The National Lottery Community Fund
MHLECA was successfully awarded a National Lottery Community Fund 'Awards for All' Grant to help fund our Community Engagement work to continue delivering existing FaNs projects, and is helping us trial a FaNs 'pop-up shop' concept in selected Care Homes in response to Resident requests (2019-2020)
With the impact of Covid-19 and the Challenge for Care Homes, which has significantly increased demands on the Charity, we were also awarded a second 'Awards for All' Grant award (2020-2021)
Henry Smith
MHLECA received a grant towards three years’ salary of the Local Strategic Co-ordinator for the FaNs project providing activities to enhance the wellbeing of older people living in care homes in Essex (2017-2020)
Improved Better Care Fund (iBCF)
MHLECA received a grant from the iBCF Transformation Fund (2018/19) to help North East Essex CCG meet it's outcomes. The grant was towards the Digital FaNs project - FANs are working with local care homes to develop a digital and real community around them to improve the quality of life for residents. This includes activities such as the Wishing Washing line, to fulfil the wishes of care home residents. This grant has allowed Team FaNs to utilise social media and test and learn the potential for developing more online resources.
Essex Community Foundation
MHLECA received a grant to employ a funding and impact consultant to support the development of FaNs which helps improve the quality of life experienced by older people living in care homes in North East Essex (2018-19)
ESRC Business & Local Government Data Research Centre (University of Essex)
MHLECA was awarded Data Analytics Innovation Vouchers (DAIV) to fund University Research Staff help to develop and implement an evaluation strategy to allow us to demonstrate the impact of our work (2018/19)
Essex County Council
MHLECA received a Community Chest Grant from ECC (2018/19) The grant has been spent on creating and launching the Wishing Washing Line kit. This kit was designed to facilitate the easy set up and sustainable delivery of more Wishing Washing Lines. These lines will create more opportunities for older people to re-engage with their local community and for community members to take up volunteering opportunities directly tackling isolation and loneliness in Essex.
Essex County Council
MHLECA received a Community Chest Grant (2018/19) We are exploring the feasibilty of scaling up our Wishing Washing Line initiative via a digital app solution. This grant is to complete the app design, developing the app prototype, validating the app design and prototype with the focus group, writing up a feasibility report and creating a detailed plan with costs confirming what funding will be needed to deliver the app to the community. This will enable us to seek separate funding to deliver on the app.
