My Home Life Essex Awarded National Lottery Community Funding Grant
National Lottery Community Funding Award
Earlier in the year we were delighted to receive the news that we had been awarded a 3 year grant to grow our reach into Maldon and Braintree from the National Lottery Community Fund.
This will allow us to roll out our existing FaNs model across Braintree and Maldon. Our mission is to create thriving care home communities across a larger area and expand our unique ‘resident centred’ support network to more care homes.
We will be working closely with care home activity coordinators and managers, liaising with them regularly via our focus groups to ensure we are providing activities and events that will benefit their residents directly.
We look forward to rolling out both physical and virtual ‘Wishing Washing Lines’ in all areas and engaging as many micro volunteers as possible to help fulfil as many requests as we can. Previous evidence has shown that care homes having conversations with their residents about their past hopes and dreams leads to amazing conversations about their lives. Knowing that the community beyond their residential homes are listening to their requests and care about them still, gives residents a huge boost
Additionally, we will be offering our specially designed movement sessions with Mr Motivator, alongside Strollercise sessions (Low impact rock and roll based exercise) to residents so they can keep as active as possible.
The wonderful soprano, Nancy May will be delivering a series of concerts throughout the year which are always popular with residents, their families and staff, with care homes often making the day a wonderful community event.
We will also host external events throughout the year, including a Remembrance Sunday Parade visit, Walk and Talk sessions and a Christmas Party to name a few.
We are incredibly grateful and excited to receive this grant funding as it will allow us to grow our reach into Maldon and Braintree over the next 3 years
